What if I Said No?

What if I said NO.

Every day we get out of the bed with list, obligations, responsibilities and other tasks on our brains. We allow our first thoughts of the day to be centered around the expectations of the day and it can be defeating before we drink our first sip of coffee. It’s often I get up before daylight feeling just as defeated as I was when my head hit the pillow. Today I want you to ask yourself this simple question.

What if I said no.

The reality is that the world continues to turn, God is still in control and the world will not unravel if we don’t get that load of towels folded, that dish full of dishes washed or the report that is due in 3 weeks done right now or get caught up on our social media.

Ladies, there are so many levels of anxiety for sure but we often allow the bricks to stack up simply because we don’t allow our thoughts to rest in Jesus and our mouths to say no. I don’t mean saying no to your kids or no to your husband or no to ministry opportunities those things are important when it comes to building strong families, churches and the kingdom. I’m talking about scrolling on our phones for over an hour, watching 5 episodes on Netflix instead of 1 or 2. I’m talking about going through the fast food drive thru when you are trying to be disciplined in your eating. I’m talking about the NO’s that have the potential to derail you. The thoughts that need tamed, the friendships that are toxic, the insecurities that haunt and that secret sin that jumps at every opportunity to tempt you back into bondage.

Girls, ladies we have the power to say NO to the enemy and to the things that have no place within our every day walk with Jesus. We have the power to say no to the small things so that we can say yes to things that are kingdom minded and kingdom building.

Yes wash your dishes, yes fold the towels but also have the courage to say no to things like the thoughts that follow those daily house chores. “I wish my house was bigger, prettier or cleaner” those little thoughts following our every day task can lead to NO longer feeling as if we are enough and sweet girl you are enough and your NO counts.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control

We have been given the spirit of

Power

Love

& self control.

Let each of those settle in your hearts today as you start shifting your list around of what has to be done and what can wait.

Your NO matters.

Tonight as you go to bed thank God for giving you the power of self control and then tomorrow when you wake up, and put that self control into motion.

What if you said no today?
