• Friendship | Part 4

Last night I was taking my friend Ariel to get her car and we were behind this older car on a back street. Ariel kept telling me not to ride so close behind them because they could kill us. I proceeded to pull into the parking lot and wouldn’t you know it, they also pulled in the same parking lot. They pulled in for about 2 minutes and then left. In that two minute time frame we thought up every scenario possible and murder was the first assumption. To assume defined by Webster is this: to take as granted or true. As we finish out the friendship series I am…

  • Friendship | Part 3

I eat bubble gum. A shameless truth about me and yet also extremely embarrassing. I will say that I have not eaten any in a very long time. Well minus the piece of gum here and there that I “accidentally” swallow. This little unknown fact leads me to lesson three. Lesson #3. If I choose to live in a friendship bubble one day that bubble will be popped and a mess is inevitable.   Ladies we tend to create the perfect friendship in our minds based on how our needs are going to be met. We tend to go for the shiny friendships that can make our egos a little bigger.…

I love roller coasters. I love the anticipation the comes right before it flips or goes down a huge hill. It takes my stomach every single time. I think my current favorite of all time is the Rock ‘n’ Roller  coaster at Disney. On the other hand Friendship roller coasters are not my favorite. Lesson #2 How we handle our emotions are indicators of how deep a friendship can go. I have two daughters. Rebekah is 20 and Rachel is 15. They both are…

October Has arrived. It’s like summer lingers even though it’s technically fall in September but it doesn’t actually feel like it until October arrives. I have already had my share of pumpkin spice lattes and I’m just getting started. I have been studying and wrestling with what friendship is for a few weeks. It came out of a conversation I had with a friend of mine about what genuine friendship really is. She expressed her fear behind being intentional and I expressed my thoughts about how even though you can be surrounded by people you can still in fact feel lonely. I think social media has fabricated friendship and cheapened…

  • October is for Friendship

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12 This month we are going to take a little stroll down memory lane! My October is jam packed with speaking, writing and my new job has me busy…. so I decided to share an old blog series that gained so much traction and also created lots of conversations. The Friendship Series was filled with hard truths that have continued to stick with me! Today, however, I wanted to kick the series off with a few things that I believe can help you navigate through friendship. I am 43 and I am…
